Pop Up Gazebo

Gazebos came into use when large mansions had good sized gardens. It was not unusual for someone to get rained on while in such a garden. They could not hurry quickly into the family’s home, because that was a fair distance away.  Although few homes today have such expansive space in the backyard, there are still a number of different gazebos on the market. Each represents an adaptaion of the original outdoor structure.

In June you might see a pop up gazebo sitting on a lawn in your neighborhood. These powder coated steel structures are often used at more formal outdoor activities, such as a wedding reception. They have a sturdy fabric roof, one that stretches from pole to pole of this outdoor structure.

Some pop up gazebo  have a six sided shape. However, the majority have four sides of the same length, i.e. they are shaped like a square. Unlike the original gazebo, these do not have any sort of floor. The poles rise from the ground.

All of the Amish gazebos come from the American Amish Company, which is located in the Shenandoah Valley. That Company makes both vinyl and wooden structures. They offer three different gazebo styles, with all three available to their online customers, regardless of the type of material used to make the gazebo’s walls.

The quality of workmanship on these gazebos can be inferred from the extensive amount of construction done within any one Amish community. The members of that community never contact a builder, when they want to costruct  a barn. They invite their Amish neighbors to a “barn-raising,” and each neighbor does his or her part, to faciltate erection of a complete and sturdy building.

The hot tub gazebo is a square structure, one that has screens above a wooden panel in each section of every wall. One of the four walls contains a door. Homeowners can customize this type of hot tub protection by opting for benches, a solid door or a cupola. During the day, the dome of that cupola can allow an extra amount of light to fall on those people who are enjoying the hot tub.

Like the hot tub gazebo, the spa gazebo is designed to protect a source of warmth and enjoyment. Yet protection of a spa normally calls for constuction of a more elaborate structure. A number of hot tub gazebos have sliding windows. Some have a separate recreation area.

The latter two structures can hold out the cold temperatures, whenever a hot tub or a spa sits in an area that experiences a decided drop in outdoor temperatures during the fall and winter months.  Sometimes, however, a family lives in an area that enjoys a more temperate climate. In that case, a homeowner might no want to invest in a walled gazebo.

The pergola gazebo is nothing more than a roof, one supported by stylish and sturdy legs. Sometimes that roof is not even a solid material; it could look more like a trelace. In any event, this “roof” shades the area in which people might be using a spa or hot tub. It protects them from the glare of the sun.

A final type of gazebo does not belong in a backyard. It is the UV gazebo. This tent like structure protects people from harmful UV rays. It does not surround any sort of equipment. It simply offers needed shade to ardent beachgoers.

While the original gazebo served as a protection from pouring rain, the adaptations to that structure offer varied types of protection. A few help to warm certain recreation areas. Some function as a source of temporary protection from the sun. Others serve as more permanent sort of “sunblock.” Some are used to dress up an outdoor event. Others help an outdoor activity to proceed in well built shelter, away from the affects of the elements.

These varied types of  structures have different sorts of walls. Some have wooden walls. Others have vinyl walls. A few have no wall at all. The largest and most elaborate structures have a door in at least one wall. This is a closed door; it is not like the wide open entryway that invited family and guests into the first of the raised platforms, those that helped to decorate the most formal gardens.

What future shape might we expect to see among similar outdoor structures? What sorts of materials will be used in those structures? The answers to those questions depend largeley on the needs of families with backyards. The future gazebos will reflect what such families would like to see in the area that is just beyond their home’s back door.
